Frequently Asked Questions About Registration


When can I register?

Registration is open on May 22 (for returning families) or June 1 (for new families). Registration closes August 1.

 

Can I drop a class after I register?

Please only submit a registration form for a class if you are sure that your student is going to be able to take the class. Cancelling a reserved seat makes it difficult for our teachers and other students to plan ahead. Should you need to drop a class, contact the administrator. There is a minimum $25 fee for dropping a class you have registered for, the fee increases according to the drop date.

 

Can I add another class after I register?

Sure! Just submit a revised registration form with the first quarter tuition payment for the new class.

 

What are my tuition payment options?

CHESS allows you to spread your payment over four monthly installments with the following dates.

  1. When you register
  2. September 1
  3. November 1
  4. January 1

Can I get any discounts on my tuition?

  • Your family will qualify for a $45 per student rebate at the end of the year if you attend one of our Participation Preview meetings in August, and do not drop a class during the year.
  • Working as a lunch room monitor can defer some of your costs.
  • A 7% discount is given if your family takes three or more (full year) classes.
  • Partial scholarships are available to families in need if they qualify.

 

How do I confirm that my student is in a class?

We’ll send you a confirmation of your seat when you register. If the class is full, you’ll be put on a waiting list until the August 1 deadline, and notified. Classes are filled in the order that registrations are received. You will also receive a confirmation email for each class you registered for in mid-August.

 

What if no one else signs up for my class?

A class requires at least five students to run. If less than five students sign up for your class by August 1, the class may be cancelled and you will be notified by August 6. Anyone whose class was cancelled will have until August 13th to choose replacement classes if there are seats available.

 

Will CHESS give me a transcript?

The teachers at CHESS issue grades, however CHESS is not a school. The responsibility for creating a transcript lies with the homeschooling parent.
